We've all been there, am I right?
For me, it happens around the January-April time frame, when we get those chilly, humid, dark Saturdays when my face feels greasy and my future looks like endless homework until I go back to school on Monday. From talking to my friends, I've learned that I'm not alone.
When I feel really angsty for no good reason- this only happens once or twice a year-, I take about four and a half minutes to feel sorry for myself by listening to Muse's cover of Lithium by Nirvana. But in most cases, there are things I can do to pick myself up out of whatever bluesy abyss I've fallen in:
Smile.
Just smile where you're standing. Even if you feel dumb.
Throw your phone across the room.
This might not be the best advice unless you really, really want a broken phone. Instead of chucking the nearest electronic device at the wall, just separate yourself from screens for a while. If that's not an option, just close out of social media. I don't know about y'all, but a break from Snapchat does wonders for me.
Stand in the sun.
Step outside and take a few minutes to blink in a warm patch of sunlight.
Exercise.
Move in a way that makes you feel good. Maybe all it takes is ten jumping jacks. When I start feeling gloomy, I like to dance to whatever songs come up when I put my iPod on shuffle.
Wash.
Wash your face with a soft cloth, not your hands. Or take a hot shower- that sometimes does the trick for me.
Eat a piece of fresh fruit.

I wrote this because I hope that it will help a brother/sister out. Obviously these are not a fix-all for a serious illness, but I've found that they do the trick for a case of the blahs. Be good to yourselves, dudes.
